FAQ

What geographic areas are covered without travel fees?

A.The following areas do not require travel fees for wedding photography, engagement photography, or event photography:

DuPoint, Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM), Lacey, Lakewood, Olympia, Puyallup, Tacoma, and Yelm

Do you offer engagement sessions as well?

A.Yes! Engagement sessions are available as an a la carte addition to your wedding photography package. Call Laura at (360) 891-7705 for details.

Do you offer professionally-created albums, prints, and wall art?

A.Yes! Professionally-created albums (including discounted parent albums), photo books, prints, canvases, and wall art are available for purchase on an a la carte basis.

How many photographers are included in my package?

A.Prices quoted are for one photographer. Having said that, Laura Kesler Photography sometimes includes - in its sole discretion - an assistant photographer. If this occurs, it will be at no extra cost to you. The assistant is there help the photographer with lighting, gear set-up, and similar tasks. He or she might also, in Laura Kesler Photography's sole discretion, serve as a second photographer during parts of the wedding day. While Laura Kesler Photography does not guarantee an assistant will be present at any particular wedding, you will receive the benefit of the assistant's services for free when and if one does attend.

Alternatively, the services of a dedicated second photographer can purchased as an a la carte addition to your package. Call for details.

Will you cull my wedding day photos before delivering them to me?

A.Most definitely! I will be taking LOTS of photos on your wedding day - many more than will be delivered. This is in large part because some of them will capture closed eyes, unexpected movements or motion blur, unexpected changes in lighting, an unflattering angle or pose, duplicate poses/scenes, and things of that nature. These types of images are commonly referred to as "outtakes," and are not included in client galleries or delivered images. All others are delivered.

How many photos are guaranteed to be delivered?

A.While I work hard to photograph as many significant moments, portraits, and details as possible, I do not guarantee that any particular moment/person/group/detail will be photographed, nor I guarantee that any particular number of photos will be taken or delivered.

I strive to balance quantity with quality, with quality being given the higher priority.

Having said that, generally speaking, most clients receive at least approximately 40 images per hour of wedding coverage.

When and how will you deliver my images?

A.Your wedding images will be culled, edited, and delivered to you within four weeks of your wedding date via a private, password-protected online gallery.

You are free to share your gallery with others or keep it private.

Anyone you share your gallery with will be able to view and download your images and order prints and products from within your gallery.

Your gallery will be active and available to you for 30 days from the day it is delivered to you. During that time, you can log in to it and view/download your images as many times as you want.

Photos are provided as full-resolution non-watermarked digital JPEG files. While you can download them one at a time, you will also have the option of downloading your entire gallery at once in the form of several zip files.

Please note that because you will be receiving full-resolution files, you will need a device that can hold at least several gigabytes of data for downloading and storing the photos.

Can I purchase the RAW files?

A.I strive to deliver only beautifully finished photos. I therefore provide only finished JPEG files and printed products.

RAW files that come straight out of camera are similar in some ways to film negatives that come of out film cameras and that still require developing. I process (or "develop") the RAW files that I create, ensuring that they are properly calibrated for my cameras and lenses, processed for beautiful exposure and color, and been individually assessed for possible noise reduction, straightening, cropping, and other post-processing techniques that lend the final prints and images a polished and finished appearance. Once this has been done, I export the photos as full-resolution JPEG files in order to fully merge the post-processing effects into the final images and prepare them for delivery.

Just as most authors don't sell their initial book drafts, and many other professionals don't submit their initial project work to clients as a final product, I do not, under any circumstances, provide RAW files as part of Laura Kesler Photography's services, collections, or delivered products.

Can I purchase the copyright to my wedding images?

A.While copyrights are retained by Laura Kesler Photography, you will receive a written print-and-share release. The print-and-share release will grant you the right to print your images at consumer print labs of your choice and to share them online and with others.

Laura Kesler Photography does not sell or transfer its copyright or ownership of the images.

Will flash / strobe / artificial light be used?

A.Probably - especially during family portraits and during the reception, on dark/overcast days, and in dark rooms.

Please note that strobe/flash photography can trigger seizures in those with epilepsy and other conditions. It is imperative that Laura Kesler Photography know beforehand if you and/or any other persons present may have any sensitivities to the use of strobe or flash light.

Laura Kesler Photography has experience in photographing low light and church weddings in which flash is not permitted. If you are planning getting married in such a venue, please call for details on how Laura Kesler Photography photographs low-light weddings.

I still have questions or I want to book you for my wedding. What should I do next?

A.Call (360) 891-7705 for more information and/or to book Laura Kesler Photography for your big day!

When you call, you will have a change to ask questions and to schedule a complimentary, no-pressure, no-obligation consultation. The consultation can be done over a video chat or phone call. Both members of the couple are asked to participate in the consultation if possible.

If, after the consultation, we decide to work with each other, I will send you a booking proposal that will walk you through the booking process.
